Borobudur Temple The 7 Wonders of the world
Previously I'm already explain to you what is Indonesia and take your first Adventure in Mt. Bromo. This time I will take you to go to Borobudur Temple and I will share to you about a little mystery that Brobudur Temple has.
Have you ever heard about Borobudur Temple? I guess yes!
But, did you know where is it, and what kind of history inside it?

Here we Go...
Borobudur is a Buddhist temple located in the Magelang City, Central Java Province, and about 40 km from the Yogyakarta city. Borobudur temple consists of 6 levels of a square, 3 level in the form of circular and 1 main stupa, the total is 10 stupa. At each level there are several stupas. At the Borobudur stupa in addition there are 72 main stupa and there is a statue of Buddha in every stupa. Ten levels of Buddhist philosophy is, the ten levels of Bodhisattva who must pass to reach the perfection to be a Buddha in nirvana. The main stupa symbolizes the perfection which is the highest level. when viewed from above, Borobudur structure forming a mandala structure that describes the patterns of human thought and Buddhist cosmology. Borobudur Temple was built in the 9th century, or about the year 800 AD.3
In ethnic Chinese, this temple is also called 婆罗 浮屠 (Hanyu Pinyin: po luo fú TU) in Mandarin.
Many books - history books will write about Borobudur Temple but when it was founded can not know for sure
but an estimate can be obtained with a short writing carved on the original frame Borobudur reliefs feet (Karwa Wibhangga)
shows similar letter to the one got from the inscriptions in the late twentieth century - 8 until the early twentieth century - 9
of evidence - such evidence can drag the conclusion that Borobudur was founded around the year 800 AD
Borobudur Temple is recorded in the Guinnes World Records as archeological site which is the biggest Buddhist temple in the world, with an area of 15,129 meters, the height of 42 meters with 10 levels, long realif > 1 km, and the 72 stupas.
Borobudur Temple is extremely complicated structure, in fact, more complex than the pyramids in Egypt. Just imagine, a rock weighing approximately 2 tonnes are arranged one by one until it becomes a temple of 10 levels. The stone is also drawn in detail and thoroughly describing the lives of the people of the Kingdom of Sailendra dynasty at that time.
Borobudur Temple's architecture is only one in whole world, Exactly Borobudur itself.
Now that we've known a bit about Borobudur Temple, here are some stuffs that you should probably know and prepare before you visit this magnificent site here:
1. Wear a pair shorts (for batik sarung)
Actually, it is recommended to come here wearing polite clothes (such as pants and long jeans). But, with that being said, the weather is pretty hot here, so it might be more comfortable for you to wear shorts just like what I did. Plus, they do provide a batik sarung for you to double up if you're wearing a pair of shorts.
The main purpose of the batik sarung is to preserve the decency and respect towards the heritage.
P.S. It is mandatory for you to wear this batik sarung if you are wearing a pair of shorts while visiting. These batik sarungs are lent to you without any charges. Borobudur fashion for the win!
2. Travel light
If you are planning to explore the temple and the whole area, then you might want to start by travelling light. Don't bring unnecessary stuffs around with you as the area is quite big, so it might drain your energy easily.
3. Bring water
Hydrate yourself well with water. Don't let the scorching sun dehydrate you and cause you to get a heatstroke.
4. Wear sunscreen
If you're the type of person who doesn't like to bask under the harsh sunlight, then you'd better apply a proper amount of sunscreen on your skin. This can also help prevent black spots on your skin caused by UV Ray.
5. Wear a hat
The same reason as why you should wear a sunscreen, this might protect you from getting dizzy because of the harsh sunlight.
6. Don't be in a hurry to buy souvenirs
When you come to a tourist spot, it might be tempting to buy some gifts and souvenirs back for your friends or families. And there are PLENTY of cheap and cute souvenirs to get from here, so take your time and choose wisely.

7. Vesak Day Festival
The Vesak Day Festival is held once every year on May during the full moon. During this period, there will be plenty of visitors who come to celebrate the birth, death, and enlightenment of Buddha. So plan out your visit dates before you come, choose whether you would like to come for the festival and enjoy the crowd or to stroll around freely when there is less crowd.

Maybe at the time it made such a big temple of Borobudur is not difficult. But you need to know, Borobudur was built before the Cambodian community build Temples of Angkor Wat, Borobudur Temple also built before the Europeans and Americans to build multi-storey buildings.
One the amazing facts is that the architecture and the building of this
temple is actually done without any cements, every structure is made out
of rocks and bricks, being put together like lego bricks. WOW!

If you've been to Borobudur Temple, you know the temple has a lot of the stupa shaped like a Bell upside down. In the temple there are 72 stupas, there is the largest stupa in the top floor of the Temple.
But have you ever thought if the stupas were used as a clock?
According to scientists, the stupa at Borobudur Temple also served as a sundial. This clock is used as a tool for measuring time.

Gunadarma using stupas on the Borobudur temple as the point hours. Because it is a sundial, a needle winder is the largest stupa shadow you can found on the top floor. If you look at the shadow of the biggest stupas at the top floor is always fall exactly on the lower floor of the stupa.

This being the excess of the Borobudur Temple which make the building very difficult to predict. Pyramid belonging to Borobudur Temple is not the same as the Giant pyramids in Egypt or the pyramids of Teotihuacan in Mexico. Borobudur pyramid constructed in the form of stairs which will never be found or owned in the area or any country including India. It became the main characteristic of Buddhist architecture in Indonesia.

levels that are in the Temple it was not without meaning. Each level has really deep meaning and philosophy. The first level is kamadhatu. This most basic level, that is where people still follow their lust or ego. Second, rupadhatu. mean, the body consists of the physical and the spiritual. At this stage, human beings are in levels that begin to hold their lust and thinking about their spiritual life. Third, the rupadhatu, spirit without body. Mean that human bodies have blend with soil, and their spirit back to the creator.

Borobudur Temple is not only as tour destination, but also a place of pilgrimage Buddhists from all over the world. Every year, espesialy on Vesak Day, Buddhists from all over Indonesia gathered here to pray. In fact, many Buddhists from overseas who come meditate on that day.
